    Picture Dictionary
An online Picture Dictionary is now available to display images for a selected word. Visual images often help
users better understand a word’s meaning.

    Verb Checker
The Verb Checker can be used to help determine correct verb conjugation. The user selects a verb and indicates
the tense (past, present, future) they wish to see. Multiple verb conjugation options are then provided.

    Vocabulary List Builder
A vocabulary list can easily be built by either selecting words in a document or web page using the Study Skills highlighters or by entering words manually. A Microsoft Word document is automatically created with the vocabulary words, dictionary definitions, and images representing the words. This tool helps improve and expand students’ vocabulary skills.

    Paragraph Translation
In addition to the online single word Translator, users can now have full paragraphs or blocks of text translated to or from English and their language of choice.

    Confusable Words
Confusable words, such as “through” and “thorough”, are now identified in addition to homophones which
sound the same but are spelled differently and have different meanings.

    Product Feature Video Tours
New video walkthroughs of all features are available directly from the toolbar or the Texthelp website.

Read & Write GOLD also features:

    Text to Speech
Users can use the up and down arrow keys to dynamically change voice speed during playback. In addition, the
Samantha voice from Nuance is now available and all voices are pre-installed.

    Word Prediction
Subject-specific prediction word banks are now available for download. Users can also add their own word banks.

    Screenshot Reader
Inaccessible text can now be captured in three ways – surrounding the text with a rectangle, hovering over the text, or drawing freehand around the text that the user would like read. Captured text can then be read aloud as often as needed. When exporting text to Word, text can be appended to an existing document.

    SpeechMaker
When converting text to an audio file, pauses will now be added between sentences as well as when other punctuation is encountered. The length of pause varies depending on the punctuation.

    DAISY Reader
DAISY Reader includes support for MATHML and for books created using the Save as DAISY Plug-in.

    PDF Aloud
Users can read PDF files with Adobe Reader X or Acrobat X using a modified PDF Aloud interface.

    Study Skills Tools
Users can now collect highlights from multiple open documents or web pages and export them into a single
document along with the bibliography information.

    Fact Finder
Users can select from a list to add new websites to search when researching.

    Fact Folder
The Microsoft Word button can now be used to transfer all collected research facts into a Word document. A bibliography (in the format of choice) is created for all compiled facts and presented at the end of the document.

    Online Fact Mapper
Users can add images from the new Picture Dictionary, upload their own imagery, and search for images based
on image categories. Bi-directional arrows have been added to improve map flow.

    Scanning
Support for ABBYY FineReader Version 10 has been added.

    Toolbar
A Toolbar notification window now appears when toggling toolbars. In addition, the Study Skills tools have been added to the default Research toolbar.

    Settings
Users can now reset all Read & Write GOLD defaults from the main menu. Administrators can create and pre-set user settings prior to first time use.
