Setting up JAWS for Windows is easy with an interactive talking installation. Sighted assistance is not required. - A processor capable of handling the requirements of the operating system in addition to any other programs you want to use with JAWS.
- Enough memory to run the operating system and any programs you want to use with JAWS. Additional memory will improve system performance while JAWS is running.
- JAWS requires less than 200 MB of hard disk space for program and settings files. Additional space is required for the JAWS training materials, operating system, other programs, and the Windows swap file.
- A display adapter capable of at least 800 x 600 screen resolution with 16 bit color (1024 x 768 screen resolution with 32 bit color is recommended).
- If you intend to use the Eloquence for JAWS software synthesizer or listen to the training materials, you need a sound card compatible with the version of Windows you are running. If you choose not to use Eloquence for JAWS, then you must have a JAWS compatible software or hardware speech synthesizer, or a refreshable Braille display.

JAWS for Windows Multi-User Software Licensing
Freedom Scientific offers Multi-User License pricing for the JAWS for Windows software package. These licenses are specifically designed to meet the needs of institutions such as libraries, schools, training centers, government agencies, and private corporations. The Multi-User License allows an organization to install the software for concurrent use by a specified number of individuals. These licenses are network ready, allowing the network administrator to set individual user profiles. The three types of licenses are Site, District, and Enterprise Licenses, and they are sold in blocks of five. One person must be designated as the contact for the entire Multi-User License.
JAWS Site License
The JAWS Site License is specifically designed for educational institutions, public libraries, and organizations whose sole purpose is to better the lives of the blind and visually impaired. The Site License may only be used at one designated location on computers owned and maintained by the purchasing organization.
JAWS District License
The JAWS District License is also designed for educational institutions, public libraries, and organizations whose sole purpose is to better the lives of the blind and visually impaired. However, a District License allows the purchasing organization to install the software at more than one facility on computers that they own and maintain.
JAWS Enterprise License
The JAWS Enterprise License is tailored to meet the needs of private businesses and government agencies. The Enterprise License can be installed in multiple locations, but can only be used on computers owned by the specified company or agency.
