Accessibility Statement
The Universal Low Vision Aids, Inc. website has been designed to be accessible
to as many people as possible. If you have difficulty
using our site please let us know and we will do our best to rectify
this in future maintenance and development.
All pages on this site comply with the priority 1 guidelines of the W3C
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. This site uses Miva Merchant
to generate the E-Commerce shopping cart and secure checkout webpages.
Currently, these specific pages may not comply with all of the items listed
in our accessibility statement. Future development of this website will
focus upon making every webpage found on ULVA's website universally accessible
and easy to use.
Access Keys
Access keys are keyboard shortcuts that replace the need to use the mouse
for navigation in browsers that support them. To move to a link or control
in Internet Explorer for Windows, you can press ALT + an access
key (if the access key is a number, you must use the number keys on the
number row not the num pad). To move to a link or control in Mozilla Firefox
for Windows, you can press ALT + SHIFT + an access
key. Once selected press Enter to activate the link. Below is the complete
listing of access keys that are currently defined for use throughout the
website:
- 0: Skip to main content on page
- 1: Jump to Home Page Link
- 2: Jump to Products Link
- 3: Jump to Sales Items Link
- 4: Jump to Contact Us Link
- 5: Jump to Resources Link
- 6: Jump to Accessibility Statement Link
- 7: Jump to Site Map Link
- 8: Jump to View Cart Link

Font Sizes
This site uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified
“text size” option in visual browsers. If you find that the
text is too small for you to read, you can change it to a size you're
more comfortable with:
- In Windows Internet Explorer, use the View - Text Size menu.
- In Firefox and other Mozilla browsers, use the View - Increase Text
Size option.
- In Macintosh Internet Explorer and Netscape 6 and 7, use the View
- Text Zoom menu.
- In Safari, use the View - Make Text Bigger option.
- In Opera, use the Zoom selector.
Headings
This content of this website is organized using structured semantic markup.
Each page is properly grouped with headings. Headings are used for main
topics and titles and allow for easier navigation when using screen reading
software such as JAWS for Windows. For example, on this page, JAWS users
can skip to the next heading within the accessibility statement by pressing
h.
At the start of every page there is a short menu, visible to screen readers
and users with style sheets disabled, that allows you to jump directly
to some key areas and pages on the site. Each of these also has an access
key associated with it. The same menu appears on all the pages of this
site. Sighted users who use the keyboard to navigate will also see these
links appear on screen when using the Tab key to navigate through the
page.
Visual Design
Cascading
Style Sheets (CSS) are used to control visual layout throughout this
site. If your browser or browsing device does not support Cascading Style
Sheets, the content of this site will still be readable and usable.
Forms and Browse Mode for Screen Readers
To enter text into a form field (e.g. the product search field), JAWS
users will need to first enter forms mode by pressing ENTER
and Window-Eyes users will need to first turn off Browse mode by pressing
CTRL + SHIFT + A. |
